My husband and I have both smoked for 10+ years each. We both genuinely loved being smokers. As crazy as that sounds and while knowing full well smoking in NO way benefited us we really enjoyed our addiction. That all changed when anxiety crept up on me a few years ago. I began to panic about lung cancer and dying. My husband and I tried quitting at different times and in different ways. Cold Turkey, smoking cessation classes, NRT, throwing all smoking items away (ashtrays, lighters, matches, etc.), weaning. You name it. It wasn’t until my husband’s family visited from out of the country and brought along their vapes did we even consider vaping. This last trip solidified a plan for us an the both of us have been cigarette free for almost a month. I recently tried a cigarette and found it to be the most vile and disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted. I had no idea the hold it really had on me. A month isn’t long but its longer than we’ve ever gotten combined and there’s no looking back!! The goal is to eventually drop the vapes and walking away from any kind of smoking all together. This wouldn’t be possible (for us) without vapes. It TRULY helps that our local vape shop is beyond informative and helpful through this process. Doing things on your own is great but breaking an addiction takes a bit of a team and a support system. I’m grateful we have that and I’m grateful for vapes!
